Hunger Pangs!!

Sigh.. my 2nd attempt at doing this blog. My previous posting…. “dissapeared” just as I completed the final line.. Which really sucked as it was a really long blog.

11 of us were really famished , as our last meal was approximately 8 am ( KL Time), and it was already 3 pm ( Bangkok Time). We after we’ve checked in, clean up , check out the rooms, took our photos, freshen up , etc, we were ready to head out for lunch .As the hotel provides a “tut-tut” service, we decided to take the “tut-tut” to a nearby shopping mall for lunch. The first group, with Ee Laine, Adrian, Kok Hoe, Mei Li, gbyeow, and WL went first, and they took these photos. At least they had the time to take the photos, hence these photos are coutesy of the first group. Unfortunately the 2nd group, Shanon , Charmaine, Yuin Yuin, Yuen Lin and I were too hungry and fascinated with our ride that we forgotten to take any photos.

The “tut-tut” came back to fetch the 2nd group and drop us at the shopping mall. Unfortuantely we didn’t know that they dropped us at difference entrance. So the first group was waiting for the 2nd group at one entrance, while the 2nd group was walking around looking round for the first group . In the end , thanks to Adrian and shannon’s raoming, we finally met up , after chasing each other all over the mall.

As mentioned we were horribly famished, and we really needed food. So we didn’t take any photos of the food court (our first meal at Bangkok) . Though I did catch this photo of a huge mountain of butter at this shop .

After lunch, we decided to go to Sun Lum Night Bazaar. But before we headed off, we also decided that we needed to buy Prepaid Sim Cards for the group . We bought in total 3 sim cards from DTAC , Hello Prepaid Sim Card . It cost us Baht 199 for each card, with a pre loaded Baht 50 . Shannon already had a DTac Sim Card from his colleague who was previously in Bangkok . I think the service was pretty acceptable, despite Dtac being the 2nd mobile service provider in Bangkok .

So with out tummies full with nearly everything we could find in the food court, we took a walk to the Asok Station. Here are the photos from the walk.

After buying the Sim card, we took a short walk to the next MRTA station which the Asok Interchange , between MRTA and BTS line. MRTA has a lousy, non tourist friendly site, while BTS has an excellant website for tourist. Nevertheless, MRTA is an exceptionally run service, which may even be better then Singapore. The only drawbacks, were that they didn’t have any public toilets and convenient seating areas. Other then that , I give it a 5 star service. Signs were very simple to understand , adequate in english.

It is also amazing that thai riders are really quiet and polite people. I mean the carriage had passengers, but it was really silent. And with 11 of us, we definately broke the silence of the carriage.

After a few stops, we got out at Lumpini Station , which was just outside the Sun Lum Night Bazaar, with Shannon mimicking the train announcement ” Teet ( x5) Mind the Gap”
