Hunger Pangs!!

Sigh.. my 2nd attempt at doing this blog. My previous posting…. “dissapeared” just as I completed the final line.. Which really sucked as it was a really long blog.

11 of us were really famished , as our last meal was approximately 8 am ( KL Time), and it was already 3 pm ( Bangkok Time). We after we’ve checked in, clean up , check out the rooms, took our photos, freshen up , etc, we were ready to head out for lunch .As the hotel provides a “tut-tut” service, we decided to take the “tut-tut” to a nearby shopping mall for lunch. The first group, with Ee Laine, Adrian, Kok Hoe, Mei Li, gbyeow, and WL went first, and they took these photos. At least they had the time to take the photos, hence these photos are coutesy of the first group. Unfortunately the 2nd group, Shanon , Charmaine, Yuin Yuin, Yuen Lin and I were too hungry and fascinated with our ride that we forgotten to take any photos.

Somerset Lakepoint

After approximately 8 hours of travelling, our taxis were nearing the hotel. The drivers were unsure of the way, as Somerset Lake Point is not a very commonly used hotel. I would say a well kept secret of Bangkok. The driver had a general idea on where to head, and we didn’t get horribly lost.

TOUCHDOWN!!!

After the 2 hours odd flight, we safely landed at Bangkok International Airport. What was really surprising for us, was that we saw a golf course running through the Taxiway and Runway of this airport. Amazing, that we have golfers walking around, right next to the tarmac, alongside the big Boeings and Airbuses. In fact the Taxiway cuts accross the golf course, and golfers have to wait for planes to taxi pass. They even have one of those barriers ( like those for railway crossing) to let golfers know that a plane will be taxing by ( as if they can’t see). Imagine the security nightmare this golf course poses!!!

U would have thought this was a RedEye Flight!!!

We’ve lined up and boarded the plane. As we wanted to sit together and we were in a big group, we had little choice but to take the last few rows at the back of the plane. Fortunately this was not a full flight, and there were plenty of empty seats.

At KLIA

Well.. following the 45 minute roadtrip from my house to KLIA, we finally arrived and unloaded off our luggages into the trolley and proceeded to line up at Air Asia’s Check in counter. As we had 11 people to check in, we decided to all check in at once, and I had to collect everyone’s passport . (Red Path on the KLIA Departure Lounge Map)

ROADTRIP!!!

So with all of us bundled into our Van. OK it isn’t really a road trip .. only a 45 minutes drive to the Airport before we check in .. but what the heck. The fun had already started , and so it was, 11 of us rambling down the northsouth highway, cramped into the Mercedes Van which we hired.

“Morning has broken……….”

Yawn…. scratch scratch….. time to wake up ….. It’s was 6.00 am. Our taxi Van was due to arrive at 7.45 am, and we all had to get ready…. Yuen Lin arrived at approximately 6.00 am, and was sitting in my living room when I made my way down. Slowly one by one , sleepy heads moved on to the toilets … to do their morning thing.

The Final Countdown

Time passes slowly, especially when we have been anticipating this trip. Tick tock , tick tock, time passed by day by day .. then suddenly voila … 1 week to departure…and then voila thhe night before departure. Unfortunately we did not capture a lot of photos of the night before we departed.

Recipe of Success

“Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.”
- Confucius -

As the quote suggest, our preparations and planning began way in advance of this trip . To be exact, we begun planning this trip 3 months in advance. Planning a trip for a big group is by no way easy. After all, we did invite up to 20 people from this group. Imagine : Deciding on a location, date, budget and etc, not to mention coordinating everyone’s leave.

Ps. Ok ok .. i know… this is the photo from our 2004 Vacation at Awana Kijal, but what the heck…. this will do until i find a decent group photo of the trip . Meanwhile, if you must, you can read about our Kijal 2004 Vacation at hyperhex.com
